Geography at KS3

Learning about Geography is learning about the world. Geography allows us to make sense of the world around us. Geography at Imberhorne is taught by subject specialists with clear dedication and passion for the curriculum they deliver. In Geography, students explore what has shaped our physical and human environment and the threats that we face from our actions. Sustainability is a strong theme in the Year 9 curriculum and lessons are designed to keep our learners engaged at all levels. We want to challenge students, and develop their abilities to investigate and to question the world around them. Our curriculum seeks to inspire and engage students and to promote a love of learning and ability to enquire and analyse the interactions between people and the Earth.

Geography allows us to be explorers of the world. To facilitate this, the Geography Department offers trips for each year group. Examples include day trips to London Zoo, The River Darent and the south coast for the day at Key Stage 3. We encourage students to participate in activities such as GeoCaching and love to hear all about stories of their travels.

Below is a copy of the overall curriculum plan for the year - we stick to it, but we do like to be flexible, so if student's are particulary interested in something, we may add in lessons, or if something interesting in the news happens that links to Geography, we may well study it!
