Physics at KS5
The AQA Physics A specification is taught. Students are supplied with an A Level Year 1 textbook at the start of Year 12 and then a Year 2 textbook at the start of Year 13. The textbooks cover all the content and structure of the A Level course.
Exam Information
All exams will be taken at the end of the course in May and June of Year 13. The 8 core content areas covered during both years of the A Level are to be assessed through 3 examinations at the end of Year 13.
Paper 1: 34% of A Level, 2 hrs, assessing the first 5 core content areas
Paper 2: 34% of A Level, 2 hrs, assessing the additional 3 core content areas
Paper 3: 32% of A Level, 2 hrs, assessing the option content area and Practical skills and data analysis
Internal exams in January and June of Year 12 and in January of Year 13 monitor progress and results are fed back to students and parents.
