Spanish Trip to Barcelona 9th - 14th October 2011

On 9th October, 15 Year 11 students and 25 Year 9 students departed for a 5 day trip in the Cataluña region of Spain, in  a town called Calafell which is on the coast,  just outside Barcelona.  The trip included amazing day visits to the city of Barcelona where the students visited Gaudi’s parc Guell and Sagrada Familia as well as the Nou Camp Stadium. A trip to the theme park PortAventura further down the coast in Salou was a favourite with everyone.  An afternoon was spent at the monastery of Montserrat, which is a place of pilgrimage set in breathtaking scenery and reached by a very hair-raising train ride!  Two mornings were reserved for Spanish lessons – a bit of a shock to the students who were in “holiday mode”, but lots of Spanish was spoken and they really did enjoy them!  A tapas lunch (with way too much food) and some lovely relaxation on the beach  in the sun were the remaining factors in this excellent trip. Mrs Hutcheson, language teacher and trip organiser commented on how absolutely fabulous the students were for the entire trip – a credit to the school and their families.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
