A Masterclass for KS4 Students

Our Key Stage 4 students were offered a university style masterclass on 2nd Februray, delivered by our Leader of Geography, Mr Patrick Quigley. Unnatutral Disasters was enjoyed by more than 20 students during their lunchbreak with one Year 10 student, Tia Gandhi, commenting, "I found it extremely thought-provoking and interesting. I especially enjoyed his examples that were related to the GCSE Geography course (such as Hurricane Katrina and the earthquakes in Haiti and Japan) as I was already familiar with these topics and I could compare these to more recent disasters. I could see how human interaction (climate change) is increasing the rate of occurrence for these. Mr Quigley's lecture left me with many questions, with one prevailing question being: what will these disasters look like in the future if humans continue? I thoroughly appreciated Mr Quigley's passion and enthusiasm about his chosen topic - it was an inspiring lunchtime lecture!"
