Key Stage 3 Musician of the Year 2016

Our annual KS3 Musician of the Year Concert was held on Thursday 5th May at Windmill Lane and what a spectacular musical treat it was. Six solo instrumentalists and six vocalists competed for the coveted Musician of the Year title and the judges had their work cut out for them as act after act delivered. Winners, however difficult a decision, had to be decided upon and the names that were announced to round up the evening to much applause were:

Instrumentalists - 1st Place - Max Low-Foon - Classical Guitarist; 2nd Place -  Sally Kilfiger - Violinist; 3rd Place - Olivia Marsden - Pianist

Vocalists - 1st Place - Molly Hall - ‘On My Own’; 2nd Place - Clover Silva - ‘Castle on a Cloud’; 3rd Place - Max Holden - ‘Space Oddity’

Molly Hall, our winning vocalist commented, "This was my second year entering the competition. I’ve enjoyed singing since I was 6 years old but until I was 11 I had never performed. I've slowly progressed in both confidence and expression. I decided to enter again this year because I wanted to improve even more and I know that the more experience you have the more relaxed you become in performing. I chose ‘On my Own’ from the musical Les Miserables because I understand the real meaning of the song and could connect with the emotion. I thought the evening went very well and to be honest, I did not expect to win at all. When my name was called out I was surprised, but very happy".
