Sixth Form Students Celebrate - 45% of all grades A & A*

We are absolutely delighted with the performance of our Sixth Form students this year!

This was the first year that students have sat external exams since 2019 and there has been much speculation about what the national picture would look like after two years of teacher awarded grades. Against a backdrop of much uncertainty throughout the year as well as ongoing illness and absence linked to covid, their results show a significant increase from 2019, which was a record-breaking year for the school.

Key headline figures include:

45% of all grades were A*/A or equivalent, this particular statistic is outstanding and is dramatically higher than previous exam years

62% of all grades were at A*-B or equivalent

87% of all grades were A*-C or equivalent

Our congratulations go to all our students, with a special mention to the 18 students who attained 3 or more A*/A grades/Distinction*, 4 of whom attained 3 straight A*/Distinction* grades with another 2 students attaining 4 straight A* grades. All our students worked incredibly hard and prepared themselves exceptionally well, we don't underestimate how difficult this has been. This year group had their GCSE examinations cancelled in 2020, replaced by centre assessed grades as the country entered lockdown. Despite all these challenges they have performed incredibly well; we are very proud of them all. They have all shown great resilience and thoroughly deserve this success.

Whilst a significant number of students are embarking on university courses, a number are also starting apprenticeships or moving directly into employment. We wish them well for the future and thank them for all they have done for the school in their time at Imberhorne.
