KS4 concert and Musician of the Year competition

The first Musician of the Year competition for KS4 was held at Imberhorne Lane on Monday 28th January. The competition was extremely fierce and we had a large number of competitors. These ranged from string and woodwind players to guitarists, singers and a drummer. It proved incredibly difficult to choose but choose we had to. Most musicians got within a few marks of the top award but our toughest decision was first and second place. In the end S. Bartrop who wowed the audience with his own composition on drums won the coveted first place, with M. Cutter, a former winner at KS3, a very close second with her spine tingling performance of The Swan. Third place went to K. Hardisty, another former winner at KS3, with her wonderful vocal performance of I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls. The second half was devoted to all GCSE students and they delighted the audience with a variety of styles. They were confident, competent and more importantly they enjoyed themselves. This was one of the best KS4 concerts that I have seen and it just goes to prove that our students are going from strength to strength, benefitting from performance opportunities and GCSE lessons.
