Textiles at KS5

This is a progression from the GCSE Textiles Technology course where students will develop practical textile skills and enhance knowledge of textile construction, fabric manipulation and decorative techniques. They will gain deeper insight into the historical, environmental and cultural influences both on fashion and design technologyas a whole. The course involves producing creative, original fashion outcomes within a design context.

Exam Information

Core technical principles of designing and making.

Written exam: 2 hours (100 marks, 25%of A Level)

Additional specialist knowledge.

Written exam: 2 hours – Section A Product Analysis, 40 marks, Section B Commercial Manufacture, 60 marks. (25% of A Level)

Non-exam assessment: A substantial design and make task, including a design portfolio. 45 hours (100 marks, 50% of A Level)
